TelstraClear restores email services

New Zealand's second-largest internet provider, TelstraClear, has reinstated its email services for more than half of its customers.
The company officials stated that engineers have been working since 5pm on Monday to fix a serious issue that affected nearly 180,000 accounts, including Paradise ones. Users were allowed to send mails but were unable to receive them, and at times could not access their accounts online.
Broadband Restored to 13,000 TelstraClear Customers, Today

In Christchurch about 13,000 TelstraClear customers had to work offline due to a software fault, but the broadband service has been restored to all customers by 7.30 pm today. TelstraClear Spokeswoman Diane Robinson shared that half of the Company's internet clients were affected by the disruption of the service.
TelstraClear Retains 70 New Zealand Based Roles

It was recently noted that TelstraClear was to retain 70 New Zealand based roles which were located in Christchurch, within its residential contact centre.
It was also noted that in Kapiti the left over 50 roles, plus temporary staff will, would be transitioned provider in the next three months.

The testing of the service has been finished in Whangarei using Northpower's fiber network, which is currently used by the company for its broadband and phone lines.
Commerce Commission okays rules for telecos

The amount would be paid toward providing home line and dial-up internet service access to around 58,000 non-commercially-viable rural customers.
