As per a new British study some teenagers could alter their attitudes regarding smoking cigarettes if they are not displayed in stores openly and the tobacco industry follows a ‘don’t show, don’t tell policy’.
Scientists from Ireland just removed cigarette and tobacco products from the display windows and shelves of stores while conducting a three-year long survey. During the survey they observed the effect on teenager attitudes regarding smoking.
As per the reports of the University of Nottingham’s Centre for Tobacco Control Studies The number of teens who have recalled the tobacco-driven advertisement displays was greatly decreased.
The study further says that 38 percent of teenagers thought that removing these tobacco products from display would also make children stay away from smoking and almost 14 percent adults agreed that they would be able to quit smoking more easily if they are not displayed.
As a result of this survey Ireland has outlawed cigarette displays along with cigarette vending machines and researchers informed that Britain is poised to deal with this issue till the month of October.
