According to scientists in Sydney they have discovered something which can pave the way for an advanced treatment for people who suffer from the fatal asbestos related disease called mesothelioma.

The researchers from the Asbestos Diseases Research Institute said that they have found a “tumour marker” which could help medical experts to develop a new and improved treatment for patients of mesothelioma.

One of the highest percentages of malignant mesothelioma patients are present in Australia across the globe and with each passing year more than 700 people will be informed that they are suffering from this disease and several will also be informed about the time they have left for living.

This condition grows very fast and symptoms are visible much later which makes early diagnosis very difficult making it even tougher to start with a treatment. However with this new discovery doctors will be able to treat the patients more effectively once they have been diagnosed with the condition.

The extent of the disease can now be found out from certain markers in the blood or tumor tissues which will also guide the doctor in deciding the treatment. There is kind of chemotherapy which is available for mesothelioma patients who are in a reasonable condition.
