Apple is said to have postponed the launch of Apple tablet by the second half of 2010 as the firm would wait until the availability of OLED (organic light-emitting diode) screens for making its more efficient and user friendly.
OLED screens are known for high contrast without needing any backlight and are comparatively more power efficient than traditional displays.
Taiwan's DigiTimes reported that Apple has been working on a model using a 9.7in OLED panel from LG Display for which it had already signed a deal with LG for availing panels.
The prospective device is said to have a mixed contribution of a large number of firms including Foxconn Electronics, Quanta Computer and Pegatron Technology.
