According to the revelation of a government document patients are facing a postcode lottery of NHS care which is intensely associated with various practices followed in health trusts.
It was also found by the NHS Atlas of Variation which was published by the Department of Health that several NHS trusts were not able to comply with guidelines in important areas like stroke, cancer and diabetic care.
It also includes many maps so that all the members of the public and NHS managers can be a witness to how the region is performing in comparison to other parts of England. Most of these maps have been standardized to take into record the differences in age, sex and prevalence of the condition which are some of the most important reasons cited particularly for variations in care.
The report unveils the practices followed by different NHS trusts are different from each other and can't be explained always by factors like social and those depending on patients.
When it comes to amputations after diabetes there is a lottery over the number of amputations performed with NHS trusts which have a specialist team handling diabetic foot care.
