A woman has been sentenced six weeks of imprisonment due to her act of deceiving hospital staff by submitting bogus prescription to get medication.
The twenty-five years old Sue Yu Ting has also been imposed with fine worth $500 for stealing food items at Shop N Save supermarket at Tampines Street 32. Shge has been charged with five counts of duping pharmacists at Changi General Hospital by making them believe that she had a real prescription from a doctor, which actually was fake, so as to obtain medications.
As found by the investigations against her, she used to fill up a CGH prescription form by herself to get medicines from the pharmacist and this activity continued to be carried out between May and August, 2010.
The Institute of Mental Health on inspection of Sue discovered that she was an addict to nicotine and opioid and also, she had a history of depression caused due to substance use.
In total, 16 charges against Sue were taken into notice. There was a possibility of her imprisonment term to be as long as 10 years and there could be charges on her each cheating act. Also, for stealing charges, she could have been sentenced seven years jail plus fine.
