A new book, co-authored by rural journalist and farmer Alan Emerson and director of Massey Agriculture Professor Jacqueline Rowarth was launched at the Manawatu campus yesterday. It urges government and farmers to have a re-look at their agricultural strategies for maintaining food production and country’s reputation across the world.
The book titled Future Food Farming: New Zealand Inc Meeting Tomorrow's Markets- puts light on future of food production and problems being faced by agriculture sector in New Zeeland.
Mr. Emerson stressed the need to establish an industry body for addressing the problems of agricultural and horticultural sector. He added, "The high dollar, the bizarre demands placed on crown research institutes and a lack of attention from the mainstream media are all issues."
Professor Rowarth urged universities do some more for producing educated workforce that can help in enhancing productivity.
