The Government acknowledges finally that the air pollution which is caused by cars and other such vehicles are contributing in increasing air pollution. Other sources like power plants too are creating more and more pollution in the air making it unfit for humans and reducing their life by almost 6 months in the UK.
The government agreed to this right after the Environmental Audit Committee (EAC) report on the quality of air which was published this year in the month of March. The first report from the Committee came to the conclusion that air pollution could be causing at least 50,000 deaths in the UK annually and in places with more pollution it could be leading to a reduction in the lives of people by almost 9 years.
The health gets affected by air pollution since it makes heart diseases and lung infections even worse then before. Despite the considerable effect on public health hardly any efforts are being made to decrease the air pollution levels.
The very first time the inquiry was ordered after the UK faced several million pounds as fine money for carrying on with EU air quality targets which were supposed to protect public health.
