While a lot of people who were present at the meeting that was sponsored by the United Nations expressed much of the muted hope that the steps that are small in nature will not be able to make up for the decades-long journey to reduce the planetary threat of rising global temperatures. It is to be mentioned here that the US has entered into talks in a relatively weak position.
Experts are of a view that the lack of action on domestic climate and energy legislation and continuing disputes with China are the biggest reasons for the current situation of the US.
It is not a secret that the United Nations negotiating process itself is on the line, wherein many of the market watchers are supporting the fact that the 190-nation talks cannot survive another debacle like that at Copenhagen last December.
It may be noted here that the issue of climate-change is one of the most thoroughly discussed topic till date. In fact, it may be recalled here that the American President, Barack Obama had large majorities in Congress and is now hopeful of passing a comprehensive climate and energy bill.
