Relay For Life: A Way Of Honoring The Lives Of Cancer Patients

Relay For LifeRelay for Life, An American cancer fundraising event, started in the year 1985 and it helps in raising funds for cancer patients.

The event is being organized by the Cancer Society in Christchurch. It honors people who have been affected by cancer. A large number of people participate from all over the region, as it helps them celebrate, remember and fight back.

The event will be held next year in the month of the month of March on the 5th and 6th at Canterbury Park and in Rolleston on 26th and 27th of February.

“Relay For Life represents the hope that those who have lost their lives to cancer will not be forgotten and that those who face cancer will be supported”, says Jane Sherriff, from the Canterbury/West Coast Division of the Cancer Society.

He even added that this time it will not be a 24 hour event as it would encourage more people for participation. It will begin in the afternoon on Saturday and will end late on the Sunday morning.

Funds raised by the event will go the Cancer Society to provide medical assistance to people throughout Canterbury and the West Coast.
