The decision of continuing with the tax cuts, given during the Bush administration, is a sign that the Obama administration does not want to repeat the mistake of considering recovery to be strong. This is the same mistake that they had done a year back and are now facing the consequences of it.
Obama has decided to do so even though the move has made many of the fellow Democrats angry and unhappy. He was able to very cleverly was able to trade for tax cuts for the affluent while the Republicans continued to demand for a second stimulus package.
But in return to approve the tax breaks, the Opposition party asked for extension of unemployment benefits besides business taxes.
If considered properly this means a shift in the policy of the current administration since they have spent a long time in pursuing goals like overhaul and financial regulations.
The only mistake they did was of considering continuation of economic recovery. But there are clear indicators that are not the truth.
Meanwhile, Obama's own party men have shown a mixture of anger and wariness and have asked for removal of tax cuts.
