Johnson & Johnson to recall 13 million packages of Rolaids product

RolaidsJohnson & Johnson has announced that it will recall 13 million packages of Rolaids products after consumers in Canada and the United States found metal and wood particles.

J&J's McNeil Consumer Healthcare unit said in a statement that the risk of serious health effects is remote but customers who have purchased Rolaids Extra Strength Softchews, Rolaids Extra Strength plus Gas Softchews, or Rolaids Multi- Symptom plus Anti-Gas Softchews should not use the product.

The company said that the particles might have got into the product during the production process at a third party manufacturer. Johnson & Johnson, which is the world's largest health products company, has been hit by multiple recalls of medicines this year. The company had to recall 40 medicines this year amid complaints of contamination and had to suspend operations in its plant in McNeil's Fort Washington, Pennsylvania.
