Food prices decline in New Zealand

food pricesNew Zealand statistics recently revealed data of food prices in New Zealand, which claim that thought the food prices are higher on year-on-year basis; they have registered a considerable fall in November, as the prices of vegetable also saw a decline in the month of November as compared to the last month.

The supply of seasonal vegetables has increased in the month of November which is primary cause of such a decline of 0.6% in the month of November, for the food price index.

The research house also concluded that the lettuce, tomatoes and broccoli had reduced by 34%, 27% and 45% which is why the fruit and vegetable prices were down by an astonishing 5.7%.

Although the prices have fallen they are roughly 60% higher for lettuce than what they have been in previous year's same time. Similarly potatoes and broccoli were also up by 16% and 33%.

October and September on the contrary saw an increase of 2.2% and 0.7% respectively. Discounting for non-alcoholic beverages was not really on a high raising the index of these beverages by 1.7% and for soft drinks it was up by 2.8%.
