Wellington Children’s Hospital to Receive $1-mn for a RevampThe Wellington DHB will be spending an amount of $1-million on upgrades that have been planned for its children's hospital. The DHB has decided to undergo with the renovations, despite the fact that it had suffered immensely because of a lack of money.

The DHB had been told earlier today that the medical facility needed a greater sum for renovation work, with funds amounting to $9-million. It was also informed on Monday that apart from the revamp, a new medical facility will also come up.

The hospital happens to provide 55 beds in two wards and is known as the Wellington Children's Hospital, which is located in a separate building on the hospital campus. Apart from the two wards, the hospital also happens to have an OPD area, apart from a children's wing in the Emergency Department.

The board members have also been warned that the old-hospital building on the campus was deteriorating on a quick rate and would be at its brink within 8 years. The DHB has decided to go ahead with the $1-million upgrades that will be used in providing long-term care for children.

Meanwhile, in order to help the DHB, with money, an auction was held to raise funds for the Wellington Children's Hospital, which also saw Piri Weepu stepping up to provide the much needed help.
