Employees working with KiwiRail can take a breadth of relief since the CEO of the firm, Jim Quinn has revealed a decision as per which making of big trains given to China are not going to hamper the job situation for now.
Earlier there were rumors that by giving deal for the engineering workshop, the management has paved way for job reductions.
However, Jim has also said that there is no guarantee that enough work to keep employees employed is going to be present.
China's CNR Corp has signed a deal with KiwiRail for $29 million. For the same, they are going to bolster the tired and age-old system and structures at the company. The deal is for some 330 wagons and another 20 odd locomotives.
Jim said showing a report that if KiwiRail continues to work the way it is doing now then for building engines it will have to bear costs which are 70 per cent higher. This step has not been getting support of the trade unions and after a long fight the step to save the jobs was taken.
