The District Health Board of Manukau has stated that a recent report by the Times regarding diabetes consisted of some deceptive facts about the chronic condition. The only thing the Board feels that people should know about the disease is that they should try to regulate their blood-sugar levels and they need to undergo regular treatment as well.
It has been pointed out by the board that the volume of water in a person did not affect the blood sugar levels. However, the condition was a result of excessive sugar in a person's blood and that it was caused when a person's system did not produce sufficient amounts of insulin.
Insulin is that element, which helps in the production of energy in a person by breaking down the molecules of sugar.
However, people suffering from diabetes do not need to be scared as high-sugar levels can be easily controlled with the help of a balanced diet and regular medication. A person, suffering from Type-2 diabetes, is suggested medicines that will provide them with enough insulin to produce energy, while a person suffering from Type-1 diabetes needs a dose of insulin to stay alive.
The DHB has also advised people not to deviate from the treatment that has been recommended by doctors to them.
