More visitors coming to New Zealand

More visitors coming to New Zealand	Data collected by Statistics NZ has showed that more visitors have come to New Zealand during November. The rise was by 3 per cent and most of those who came were from China and Korea.

In real terms, some 14,900 arrivals were from China which a rise of some 3,800 over the last year while from Korea it was up by 1,800.

About the same situation, Population Statistics manager Bridget Hamilton-Seymour said that there have been record arrivals from China. But the same cannot be said about Korea which has just seen a small recovery since its record level it touched in 1996.

But as compared to November, 2009 the total figure has gone up by 3 per cent. What one sees is that Korea has managed to go past Germany and become the sixth-highest income source for New Zealand.

On the other hand, the number of people who went out of New Zealand went up by 2 per cent. Most of these were short-term trips. Most of them went to Australia which saw a rise of 2,900. But if total amount till November, 2010 is considered then there has been an increase of 4 per cent in short-term departures.
