Data collected by Statistics NZ has showed that more visitors have come to New Zealand during November. The rise was by 3 per cent and most of those who came were from China and Korea.
In real terms, some 14,900 arrivals were from China which a rise of some 3,800 over the last year while from Korea it was up by 1,800.
About the same situation, Population Statistics manager Bridget Hamilton-Seymour said that there have been record arrivals from China. But the same cannot be said about Korea which has just seen a small recovery since its record level it touched in 1996.
But as compared to November, 2009 the total figure has gone up by 3 per cent. What one sees is that Korea has managed to go past Germany and become the sixth-highest income source for New Zealand.
On the other hand, the number of people who went out of New Zealand went up by 2 per cent. Most of these were short-term trips. Most of them went to Australia which saw a rise of 2,900. But if total amount till November, 2010 is considered then there has been an increase of 4 per cent in short-term departures.
