Airports see more footfalls

Auckland-AirportMost of the airports have witnessed a rise in passengers during November. Auckland airport alone saw a rise of 3.8 per cent this year as compared to the last year while the others followed suit. For the domestic side the numbers went up by 1.5 per cent during the season.

Talking about this, Auckland Airport spokesman said that both the Cairns Airport and Queenstown Airport have witnessed a rise in international passengers. Cairns saw a rise by 39.1 per cent. Mackay traffic grew by 13 per cent.

In real terms, Auckland Airport handled Auckland Airport in November as compared to 533,889 during last year. Most of the rise has been because of strong incoming and outgoing of traffic to the Asian region.

Meanwhile, Infratil Ltd that owns majority shares in Wellington Airport said that overall the passenger traffic went up by 2 per cent. Out of this, 14 per cent came from the regional side while 9 per cent was in the international category.

The company said that since the airport has seen reconstruction and also making of some new facilities like hangars, more can be expected soon.
