After noticing a low level presence of e-coli bacteria in the water supply at Luggate, residents there were informed by the community to boil their water for safety purpose. This boil water notice has to be followed till the receipt of next notice.
It was Christmas, when during a routine testing of water supply, this problem was identified. According to The Queenstown Lakes District Council the immediate supply, already in flow, was treated with chlorine, further issuing notice for using boiled water.
The community has asked to follow this notice for next three days from the date of issuance. However, the required treatment has been already given to the water supply, but for precautionary sake, boiling water has no harms.
The next notice, mentioning further action to be followed, would be issued after confirming the improving results of next test.
