Cancer-PetLatest advancements in the medical field have the made the society to change its approach towards the cancer as people are consider to treat their pets when they suffer cancer. Some types of cancer no longer mean a certain death in pets.

The people of New Zealand are now looking to provide treatment to their pets suffering from cancer.

Massey University veterinary oncologist and soft-tissue specialist Jonathan stated that the mentality of the people had changed now.

He further added, "The dog or the cat is now part of the family, and they are more prepared now to ask what can be done to help them."

According to him, the picture is different from 15 years ago when very few New Zealanders wanted to treat animal cancers.

Following so many medical advancement during 20th century, the veterinary has greatly improved. Now with chemotherapy, animals can also be given the same drugs that humans use, but in smaller doses.

Some cancers require a combination of surgery and drugs but vets are still learning the innovative ways to treat cancer.

If you are thinking about the costs of treatment then here is good news for you. In Britain, there are some pet-insurance schemes running for the past 20 years to cover the costs.

Though, In New Zealand these schemes were just introduced.
