Mitsubishi Motors has reported a rise in sales of its cars in the North American market for the month of December. The rise was close to 12 per cent and most of it was seen in the category of sedans and sports vehicle segments.
The two most famous brands of the automaker were Lancer Evolution and Outlander. During the month of December it was able to sell some 4,874 vehicles as compared to 4,570 vehicles in the same month last year.
Mitsubishi also said that sales of Outlander were up by 41 per cent during the month of November and a whopping 95 per cent rise was seen in the case of Lancer Evolution. That being true, this was the single largest sales rise that was seen since April 2009.
But even these good figures should not bring much of cheer as the performance of the company as compared to the overall auto sector was not very good. It has a manufacturing plant in Normal and reported sales of 55,683 vehicles last year.
Meanwhile, the overall sales of the whole US automotive industry has gone up by 11 per cent and in real terms it stood at 11.6 million units.
