The controversial security issue between the Indian government and BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion (RIM) took a new turn when RIM asked for 18-24 months time to address these topics. The Indian authorities have been demanding access to RIM's corporate email system.
Two Indian newspapers- Economic Times and Mint first broke the news and said that a meeting between all the parties involved, took place on December 29.
The company said that its dealings with the government have been positive and on the track, it also added that it has refused to allow them to access data from its Blackberry Enterprise Server.
In its statement, RIM said that reports that say it is either enabling or planning to allow access to its server are absolutely false.
The company's dealings with the government were positive and on track, it had said.
India had threatened that it would stop the services of BlackBerry Messenger and corporate email services to be used in India. This was being done since the security officials had said that unmonitored communication puts the security of the country at risk.
