In order to combat falling sales of cameras, manufacturers have now started to cut price of their products for point-and-shoots. At the same time, some have also started offering higher features at the same price. In many cases prices have come down to even below $100.
As showcased by most of the camera makers at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, dozens of models are now with reduced price tags. These models will hit the stores over the next few months.
Earlier, while only a handful of companies like Casio America, Canon and Eastman Kodak used to sell digital cameras for $100, companies not known for discounted price tagged cameras like Sony Electronics have now jumped into the bandwagon.
As per reports, Sony's Cybershot DSC-W510 (12 megapixel and 4X optical zoom) will soon be available for $100. Similarly, market leader Canon has reduced the price of its 10 megapixel Powershot A800 to $89.
In the gadget show, Kodak also came out with two new budget offerings - the mini sized EasyShare Mini for $100 and the Easy Share Sport for $80.
