Answer this, what is the similarity between an ATM and a public toilet? Baffled? Well, one might find it surprising, but that ATM machine might be consisting of a lot more germs when compared to a public toilet and it will only take common sense to realize that this is actually, very true.
If you think about it, just imagine the number of hands touching the machine, and god knows which finger has gone where and touched what. Well in contrast, the thighs of a person might be a lot less contaminated as they're bound to touch a lot less of foreign objects than a person's hands.
The saying has been further stated to be a true, after the Public Health Department of Lane County stated that restrooms were more likely to be cleaner. Well, toilets are at least cleansed on a regular basis, whereas ATM keypads are not exactly sterilized, ever.
Talking about the situation, an Official with the Lane County Public Health Department, Martha DeBroekert informed that there's nothing to be alarmed about. Though, the best defense against this possible risk is that you should wash your hands immediately after using an ATM machine.
She further expresses that an ATM keypad would be the last thing a person expects to contract a virus from. Though, she did warn that apart from ATMs there are a lot of things that can play a role in contracting you with a virus, and that the ATM example was just to warn people that they should wash hands regularly.
