NZMA CEO To Retire From His RoleNew Zealand Medical Association (NZMA) Chief Executive Officer Cameron McIver is reported to take retirement from the Association. Cameron has served NZMA for over 15 years.

"The bottom line is that primary health care can't work efficiently without doctors and other health professionals, and debate with NZMA and Mr McIver in particular was generally constructive and very useful", Ruth Dyson posted. "I wish him well in the future, and hope he finds the opportunity to continue to contribute to the health sector".

Mr McIver departed from his army career in 1989 and started working with several national NGOs. He was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the NZMA in October 1995.

NZMA Chair Dr Peter Foley highlighted the sheer, long-standing contribution extended by Mr McIver during the course of role in the NZMA, praising his broad skills in political advocacy, vast knowledge related to health sector, and the wide relationships he has developed and maintained across the sector.

However, presently the NZMA is now undertaking a recruitment process in a view to appoint a new CEO in place of Mr McIver position.

As per the formally planned dates, Mr McIver will retire from his role by mid-March 2011.
