The Nintendo 3DS will be providing a simplified system of friend codes as well as introduce a StreetPass for aiding 3DS owners to remain in contact with one another.
The latest system on friend codes is about every user receiving a code each, much similar to the Xbox 360's Gamertag, or even the PlayStation 3's PSN ID system.
This is a deviation from the trend of the Wii and DS online games, every one of which arrives with a fresh code. Reggie Fils-Aime, the president of Nintendo of America, even gave a clue as to a bettered online friends network.
Friends will now be able to check who is online and who is not. They will also be able to see the game they are playing, thereby making the Nintendo handheld much like the Mac, PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and likewise in the various online social networking sites.
After StreetPass gets activated, it enables the portable 3DS consoles to exchange the game data as well as player information with one another.
The elaborate details of the schemes were revealed at subsequent press events at New York and Amsterdam.
