The recent cuts in the council budget would adversely affect many people. Presently 328 people receive hot food from Meals-on- Wheels at a cost of £4.78 each.
Presently people are paying a sum of £3.25 for two-course meals which they get on their door and the remaining £1.53 is paid by the council. However, the delivery services may be scrapped in the wake of t reduction in the budget of the council.
A Spokesman of the council has revealed that they are exploring more ways in which people can get their own meals. He added that the council is thinking of providing money to these people so that they can buy food from Tesco or from any other place that they are interested in.
Cllr Roland Domleo disclosed that the council is planning to do away with the subsidy on care prices which also includes the cost of hot meals which are delivered to the people with eligible care needs at their home.
Domleo revealed that they are taking into account the national `personalisation' agenda and are thereby planning to improve the services. He added that they are planning to remove the subsidiary in order to have some other specialist provision.
