Everything Everywhere, which includes Orange and T-Mobile, has teamed up with Barclaycard to roll out a contactless mobile phone payment system that will make shopping easier.
Britain's biggest mobile phone network, Everything Everywhere, said that the new service would be rolled out to Orange and Barclaycard customers sometime in early summer this year.
Users of the upcoming service will be able to make purchases by waving their mobile over a till scanner in high-street stores. Currently, more than 40,000 retailers are making use of contactless technology.
Mobile phone operator Orange already has a partnership with Barclaycard to offer a contactless credit card. The new contactless mobile phone payment service will expand the partnership further.
Commenting on the upcoming service, Jason Rees from Everything Everywhere said, "Trials have proved that customers love it, they love the simplicity of having their wallet all in one place and it means there is no more need to carry cash."
However, the contactless mobile payment service will initially allow users to use the service for making purchases of £15 or less.
Some experts have raised concerns about the security of the service. But, Orange claims that the system is secure.
