The long-awaited BBC iPlayer app for the Apple iPhone and iPad could be released within a month, emerging reports claim.
As per PaidContentUK, the BBC iPlayer app for the iOS-based devices should be available by the end of February, and before the BBC’s Future Media & Technology director Erik Huggers leaves the corporation to join Intel.
The BBC’s iPlayer is an online video-on-demand service that allows people to watch and listen to TV and radio programs which they missed during the past week.
Owner of the Apple iPad or iPhone can already view the BBC content. But, they have been struggling with accessing the content through their Safari browser. The release of the expected app will function much more smoothly.
The potential app is expected to bring social networking features fully integrated with an interface similar to that of the user-friendly offering that is already available by the iPlayer website. However, the app will only be made available to UK viewers.
Meanwhile, Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. announced that the long-awaited iPad-only newspaper, The Daily, would be launched on 2nd of February.
