A Chinese documentary on HIV/AIDS is invited for screening at the Berlin Film Festival. This information has been confirmed by the officials of China’s Ministry of Health.
“TOGETHER” will be the only Chinese film to be screened at Berlin. This movie will be screened from Feb 10 to Feb 20. This movie got a place in the Panorama section. No Chinese film has been nominated for the competition level where the major movies are being screened.
Director Gu Changwei and Producer Zhao Liang were moved to make the documentary while shooting another HIV/AIDS awareness film, "A Tale of Magic", on which people living with HIV/AIDS had worked.
This documentary shows six people suffering from HIV/AIDS and the way they were found and persuaded to shoot the movie.
Three of the actors agreed to reveal their identity on screen in the documentary. This includes a 12-year-old boy Hu Zetao. He is playing the lead character in the movie.
This documentary was released in China last year in the month of December. This movie was made to release on the World Aids Day to create awareness about the disease, as told in a statement released by the organizers of this movie.
