Oscar-winning actor & theater producer Kevin Spacey on Sunday announced plans to launch a theatre arts academy in the Middle East to promote theatre culture in the region.
According to a report published in the New York Times, the Kevin Spacey Foundation will join hands with Crescent Investments chief executive Badr Jafar to offer classes and workshops in everything related to theatre, ranging from acting to stage design.
The Middle East art academy will not have any permanent base. The art theatre will travel throughout the region to teach theater to the interested in the Middle East.
Spacey said he admired talent found in the region, and that he wanted to support those who had passion and potential to succeed in the field of theatre.
The mission will try to create opportunities for bringing Middle Eastern projects to Broadway and other locations across the globe.
Hollywood actor Spacey, who is in the UAE to host the Laureus sports awards, is the artistic director of the London-based Old Vic Theater.
