Google: Microsoft Bing Copying Code

google-bingAfter the row of alleging Microsoft of tracking its search words, recently Google accused Bing for copying its codes.

The search engine giant, while keeping a fierce eye on its brand and safeguarding the algorithms conducting routine secret checks that showed Bing search results were directly copied from Google, according to Google’s anti- webspam engineer Matt Cutts.

Although Yahoo stands second among the search engine’s popularity, the Google has been directly taking on its third place contender, Microsoft’s Bing accusing it of copying code.

At the a Bing-sponsored Farsight 2011event, Matt Cutts impeached that the recent improvements made to the Microsoft search engine were directly lifted from Google further specifically levying charges Bing of copying Google search results.

Cutts publicly gave statements with valid proof on stage, while Microsoft Vice President Harry Shum was sitting next to Cutts. The proof was based on earlier tracking conducted by Google on Bing that indicated even random bogus queries (that had nothing to do with the usual search algorithm) Google normally applies submitted by Google were reflected on Bing’s query box within few weeks.

Although Google had this information by the summer of 2010, the information was released in February 2011 especially at the Bing-sponsored event giving the accusation a publicity direction. Considering its unmatched leading position, Google for sure must anticipate the mimic strategy from its competitors trying a hand at success.
