A doctor from Hamilton, Dr. Suresh Vatsyayann, is facing legal charges against him for employing his unqualified wife to perform smear tests, removal of intrauterine devices and vaccinating children. He is also facing charges against transferring medical records without patients consent.

It was stated in Health Disciplinary Tribunal hearing, Suresh the clinic director, was assisting his wife in performing medical activities she was not qualified for and maintained records and enrolled patients at the Family Clinic without their knowledge.

A former employee of, The Family clinic, stated as a proof at the hearing that he was surprised and disappointed to know that his medical files were transferred to the clinic without his permission.

Rebecca Carajannis, Counsel for Tribunal's professional conduct committee, announced that Dr. Vatsyayann's wife was not qualified to perform the medical activities that she has been carrying out since June 2006 to April 2009.

Dr. Suresh Vatsyayann's medical registration has been suspended at present, and is being represented by his daughter, Joy Foot. She is the former general manager of Family clinic and has no legal training.

Mrs. Foot stated that they are not denying the allegations of performing activities they were not qualified but told that they would be justifying all the acts in court.
