Allergic people are immune to brain cancer. As per a recent research, people with highest number of allergies are less prone to the most common type of brain tumor, gliomas.
Study researcher Bridget McCarthy, a research associate professor of epidemiology at the University of Illinois at Chicago claimed that allergies shell the person from brain tumor.
Though many studies have established a blurred link between allergies and gliomas , this research work was focused on quantifying the allergies associated with seasonal, pet and food.
The research work studied over 1,000 patients between the age 18 to 80, and claimed that people with gliomas are less likely to diagnose with any allergy as compare to those without gliomas.
Citing the concern over the authenticity of the results, Dr. Jeffrey Raizer, director of the medical neuro-oncology program at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago raised doubts over the number of people with allergies developing glioma as compare to those without allergies.
Though many researchers have confirmed the fact that any upsurge in allergies strengthens the probability of developing immunity towards gliomas, McCarthy asserted the need of probing the matter to establish the real reason of this aforementioned association.
