Hosting an event can be a great way to spawn buzz for a new product, however it is highly unpredictable to state the significance of a product launch event; but some events remain in the news and minds for long. The recent big one was the HP's launch event for the two new webOS-driven smartphones and the TouchPad tablet PC at the Fort Mason waterfront held on February 9. As HP drives into the 21st century world with its new connected mobile devices, this launch event might either be one of the most significant of its launch events in HP's long and jubilant history or could herald the beginning of a real collapse.
As seen with the biggest launch of Google's first ever smartphone-the Nexus One, which Google put that off by April because of two major problems, one being the touch screen problem as several repeated actions needed and Google was selling it online only. The crash of Google's first smartphone forced the early buyers to resell for $100 or even less just a few weeks later.
Before buying a smartphone the first thing the buyers want to do is ascertain its look, feel and know its performance before they decide to buy it. Having learnt lessons from such experiences, Google and HTC made improvements that led to the availability of a new Nexus in the market.
