Web search firm Yahoo's newly announced digital newsstand, called Livestand, for Apple's iPad and Android-based tablets will allow user to access content from firm's numerous sites as well as online publications.
Livestand will tailor content, including articles, graphics, photos, videos etc, by taking a number of factors such as a user's interest into account.
The firm said that the new platform will have social media capabilities which will help publishers in engaging readers and promoting interaction among them.
People are inclining towards mobile devices like tablets for accessing content from media companies. Publishers are also coming forward to make content available via mobile devices.
Speaking on the new app, Yahoo's chief product officer Blake Irving said, "We see tablets as a catalyst that will allow advertising dollars to shift from TV and print to digital."
Yahoo Livestand, which will allow publisher generate revenue both from subscriptions and ads, will be available within the next six months.
