It has been reported that if NASA continues operating at 2010 funding levels in the same way it was doing in last few years, then it may help the agency to save a huge amount. It may also under go for its third space shuttle mission this year as well. A senior NASA official has informed this fact today. He has also added that the space shuttle mission will be the last mission from NASA.
Meanwhile the White House has released the budget for the fiscal year 2012 today. In this report it would freeze NASA spending at 2010 levels if authorized.
NASA administrator Charles Bolden accepted the fact that the government is planning to cut the cost of agency. He has said that the economic condition is very tight at this point of time. So some tough decisions need to be taken now.
Bolden has said this in a press conference today. He has also added that the prime objective of NASA would be the safety of its shuttle and it will focus on it. NASA has planned to carry forward three more space shuttle flights.
