People residing in North Queensland have come under the threat of a vicious strain of dengue. Twenty people residing in East Innisfail have been detected to be suffering from a confirmed case of type 2 dengue, while another five with type 4 of the virus. The numbers are expected to rise as 12 people have not yet received their test results.
Talking about the outbreak, Spokesperson for Queensland Health, Dr. Geoffrey Hanna, informed that the type 2 strain of the virus was a vicious one and could result in a lot sickness. Apparently, half of the people falling sick of the virus have received treatment at a hospital.
The biggest cause of concern is that the virus is still prevalent and that it can spread to other places as well. Residents living in and around East Innisfail have been advised to take necessary precautions against the illness.
It has been opined by Dr. Hanna that the type 2 strain of the virus might have reached Queensland from Papua New Guinea.
People infected with the type 2 strain of the virus are likely to suffer from a lot of exhaustion and end up feeling completely drained because of the viral fever. Apart from that, some might even require medical intervention for dehydration.
