Kiwifruit Industry Under the Specter of Bacterial InfectionKiwifruit industry has been alerted with a sudden bacterial outbreak. The questioned bacterial infection, syringae pv actinidiae (Psa), seems to have stemmed from the grounds of Japan, 25 years ago, but has been pouncing in many regions across New Zealand and Italy.

Responding to the outbreak, John Burke, General Manager of lead response organization Kiwifruit Vine Health (KVH), claimed that besides the common Asian-like isolate, two other forms of psa namely Italian-like and French-like isolate have been identified across the regions posing severe threat to the vast vegetation of Kiwifruit across New Zealand.

Expressing severity of Italian-like Psa, Bruke reportedly claimed that they had shifted their attention towards controlling the spread of the deadly Italian-like Psa in the eastern side of Te Puke as the potentially damaging Asian like psa is not a major point of concern for the authorities right now.

Additionally, Bruke told that the entire team has been working to track down the attacking zone of the deadly Italian-like Psa so that future strategies can be laid down to contain the spreading wings of Italian-like Psa. Though they have received a significant win on gauging the contour of threat , Bruke claimed that more funds needs to be invested to devise a full fledge procedure to root out the spread of infected virus.

Meanwhile, gauging the severity of the Italian-like Psa, Bruke has claimed the fixing the movement of Italian-like Psa is not an effective measure to contain the bacterial infection.
