Two popular third-party Twitter sites, UberTwitter and Twidroyd, which were once enjoying symbiotic relationship with the micro-blogging platform has been banned.
Twitter, which allows users to post and receive tweets in up to 140 characters, accused BlackBerry Twitter client UberTwitter and Android Twitter client Twidroyd breaching the company's API policies.
Twitter claimed that UberTwitter and Twidroyd breached its policies pertaining to a privacy issue with private Direct Messages longer than 140 characters and trademark rules. Twitter also claimed that the concerned clients altered the content of Twitter users’ posts in order to generate money.
Both of UberTwitter and Twidroyd belong to UberMedia, which has several third-party Twitter clients, such as Tweetdeck, which directly rivals Twitter’s web and mobile clients.
Meanwhile, UberMedia’s CEO has confirmed that he would re-name his client as UberSocial.
