Singapore Medical Council (SMC) has filed a charge against the well-known Surgeon Susan Lim. The surgeon has been charged for treating a patient linked to the Brunei palace for seven months in 2007 and raising a bill of $24.8million.
Dr. Lim and the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) have not settled on any conclusion and are still battling over the bill.
The lawyers of the surgeon say that she had reduced the bill twice, and is yet to be settled.
The surgeon is now competing with the decision of SMC and has urged to appoint a second party to investigate an accusation by the Health Ministry on the point that she had overcharged her Brunei patient.
The patient linked to Brunei palace passed away in August. Between March 8, and June 28, Dr. Lim had sent several invoices for the treatment given to the patient. On August 1, Dr. Lim informed her patient that she was withdrawing certain bills and offering them a 25% discount on the rest. She further reduced her bill to charge only third-party disbursements and bill.
The outstanding sum was not revealed in the court, but it is believed to be a quarter of the original.
