According to a report in the Guardian, “alternative tests for children’s food allergies – such as hair analysis or muscle weakness – must be avoided because there is little evidence they work.”
This is the advice that came from the newest guidelines of National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), and was published widely in the press. They were of the main aim of warning against alternative allergy examination.
The aim of these guidelines is to help the general Physicians, the nurses as well as the other health professionals who work for the community and for the treatment of food allergies in kids. They have a detailed explanation of the process of testing a child for allergies and the way to decide whether or not there is a need of allergy treatment.
According to the report, the guidelines contain warning against the usage of “alternative” test kits that are availed in some shops.
Those tests which are not recommended by NICE are Vega Test, Hair Analysis, applied Kinesiology and Serum specific LgG tests.
These are the tests that are reportedly available on the high street or on the internet.
