Google Inc last week made major changes in its search algorithm to improve the rankings of high-quality websites and downgrade the likes of content farms and spammy-content generating websites.
Search-engine data researchers have found that the changes made by the web search giant showed a dramatic impact on the rankings of the low-quality websites.
A number of websites that were previously enjoying high ranks in searches for certain keywords on Google slipped sharply following the changes in Google’s search algorithms.
However, many of the websites that were downgraded by the web search firm are arguing that they had been unfairly downgraded.
Google made in its search algorithm following criticism that the firm had been ranking unhelpful articles high in the search results. As per Google’s claims, it updated 11.8 per cent of search queries.
Google Fellow Amit Singhal, who worked on the most recent change, said, “It’s a clear evolution of the algorithm as the Web is evolving, the content on the Web is evolving, the user expectation is evolving.”
All websites want to attain the highest possible ranking in search results as high ranking allow websites to attract more traffic and revenue via advertising.
