With the Wednesday launch of a full-fledged RSS feed pertaining to iPhone app news, Apple has paved the way for an enhanced communication with iPhone developers; attempting to provide them with the latest iPhone-related news and announcements.
The developers who subscribe to Developer News will receive the most recent submission guidelines from the Apple App Store, including tips about the importance of App name and icon consistency, as well as data on approval of the App Store submissions, testing procedure, and program updates.
The new RSS feed, which is Apple's newest endeavor to get a better hold on its booming App Store, comes after Apple has been widely criticized by App Store developers and buyers for its supposedly-flawed management of the app submission and oversight procedure.
With some developers arguing that Apple makes it too difficult for them to get their apps onto the App Store, the company had lately introduced greater transparency for developers into the app approval process.
However, the newly-introduced RSS feed might only be a small change for the developers. They obviously desire new categories reflecting the changing face of iPhone software. Moreover, along with gaining more visibility into the approval process, they want beforehand, concise information about whether or not Apple will approve of iPhone apps compiled by something besides Xcode, like Unity or Flash CS5.
