Milwaukee Teachers Drop Viagra Suit

ViagraThe Milwaukee teachers union has decided to drop a case regarding the withdrawal of Viagra as an insured medication for the educationists. It needs to be remembered that the group had decided to sue the school board for the withdrawal of the medication from their health insurance plan.

The teachers had asked authorities to include the drug again as it provided treatment to people suffering from erectile dysfunction.

The union’s attorney had argued that the teachers were being differentiated and that male employees of the school board were being discriminated against. However, the board has come out in sharp criticism by saying that it had taken the decision way back in 2005 to reduce expenditures.

According to the information available in records, the school board, the State Labor and Industry Review and attorneys had met on the 1st of March and decided to dismiss the case. However, despite repeated attempts, the attorneys’ of all the three groups did not reply to any messages.

Though the drug was withdrawn by the school board in 2005, the union had decided to resort to legal action in 2005 to force the board to add the medication in its insurance coverage.

The action taken by the union had met with a lot of criticism as it had decided to go to court when a number of teachers feared job cuts.

Talking about the situation at that time, State Representative Jason Fields said: “The fact of contention is kind of frightening. What are our priorities? I'm all for love and peace; but almost 1 million dollars? (The estimate cost of adding Viagra to the bill) And you go to court over this issue”.
