Scientists at the University of Hertfordshire have devised an out of box therapy for the autistic children. As per reports, researchers have unveiled a human -looking, child sized robot, Kaspar, in order to help the autistic children.
As a part of the scientific research, the robot is being tested with 300 children in Stevenage, north of London. Moreover, scientists are developing an ungraded version of the robot and are expecting to bring a major change in the market by making it affordable for general people.
Autism is reflected in children at varied levels starting from mild to severe and henceforth, the therapies are customized as per the requirement.
Responding to the study, Ben Robins, a senior research fellow in computer science at the University of Hertfordshire who specializes in working with autistic children, claims that robot will play certain activities with the children so that hidden apprehensions in the mind of autistic children can be rooted out.
The team claims that autistic children are highly apprehensive about direct communication with human beings as they struggle to understand their facial emotions. With the emergence of this human machine which does not exhibit any emotion, researchers are expecting to bring relief to those struggling with this disorder.
