A recent research has claimed that diabetes might increase the risk of cancer. The main cancer risks for the diabetic patients were found to be liver and pancreatic cancer, colorectal or bowel cancer and lung cancer.
The number of people suffering from diabetes is increasing day-by-day. At present, 6.4% people across the world are suffering from diabetes and the number is expected to increase with the increase in the rates of obesity. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has warned that up to a third of US adults could suffer from diabetes by 2050 if the problem of obesity remains constants.
Previous studies have shown that those diabetic patients have a higher risk of dying of heart attacks or strokes. A scientist of the study, Emanuele Di Angelantonio of Britain’s Cambridge University, has said that the new study links diabetes with the risk of cancer which means that there is a need to understand the problem of diabetes and prevent it from occurring.
The problem of diabetes increases the risk of cancer by 25% and also increases the risk of kidney and liver disease. The study was conducted on more than 820,000 people across the world.
