Google lets users hide unwanted search results

Google lets users hide unwanted search results Web users often come across websites that are useless but appear again and again. With a view to do away with this problem, Web search giant Google has announced a new feature that will let users to hide unwanted search results.

Google users can now hide specific domains which keep popping up in their search results, stopping them from appearing again.

Users of the world’s most popular search engine see a link, "Block all [name of site] results," below Google Search results. Clicking on the link will add example. com to the user’s blocked sites list. Once clicked on the link, the search engine asks for confirmation on if the user really wants to block that website or not. On getting confirmation, the specific website is blocked.

However, the user can unblock any website immediately in the "Manage Blocked Sites" link.

Commenting on the new feature, a Google spokesperson said via an e-mail, "We were thrilled by the feedback we got about the extension, so we are pleased to bring this functionality to everyone who uses Google."

This feature is just similar to the functionality that was introduced by Google with the Personal Blocklist Chrome extension, but that was available only to Chrome users.

The new feature has been made available to all English users of Chrome 9 or higher, Firefox 3.5 or higher, and Internet Explorer 8 or higher.
