Obesity is a considered bad for human health. It is the most common concern every person has as they all know that obesity can cause heart problems, high blood pressure and numerous other diseases.
In a recent research a new question has arrived. The researchers are questioning the procedures by which obesity is measured. Is it BMI or not BMI? Is it apples or pears?
The researchers claim that there is nothing that proves that if a person is obese or apple shaped he/she will be more prone to heart attacks.
On the other hand, it is also being said that obesity can be the cause for increasing the risk of a heart attack but the procedure of measuring obesity is not clear.
A lot of doctors believe that measuring a person's weight to hip ratio (body shape) is the correct procedure whereas some believe that the perfect way is by simply measuring the person's total weight.
In a research done on 220,000 people over almost 10 years, it was seen that all of the three measures showed the same result. An obese person is more prone to heart problems.
The reality is that obesity has been the reason for a lot of diseases and does not matter how it is measured. Obesity has increased by 50% in the last decade and now it has become the reason for concern in children as well.
