Oxfam Water Challenge to Fund ‘Water for Survival Programme’

Oxfam Water Challenge to Fund ‘Water for Survival Programme’Water is going to be an expensive commodity in future. With millions of people struggling to receive clean and safe water, Oxfam has come forward with a drive to raise funds for the underdeveloped nations.

As per reports, a gathering of around 300 people is expected to attend the Oxfam Water Challenge 2011 at Narrow Neck on March 19.

Moreover, a significant rise of members of the Auckland water and wastewater industry is being seen this year as 27 teams would put in their efforts to achieve the mission of providing safe drinking water to the poorest nations around the globe.

Responding to the study, Katherine Mason, Oxfam New Zealand Water Partnerships Manager, claims that many of the powerful countries have realized that survival is just not possible without water.

Many health experts have echoed concern over the potential impact of unsafe drinking water, which can prove to be lethal for the global community. With the rising concern over the safety of water available for various functions, Oxfam has taken this major step to raise awareness among women and children.

The amount raised from the drive will be donated to the Oxfam New Zealand's Water for Survival programme, which caters to the needs of developing nations by proving safe water.
